About the artwork
The idea came in Tahiti, where I saw eels swimming surprisingly close to people. The moment felt almost surreal — as if the usual boundary between the wild and the familiar had briefly disappeared. I even fed them pieces of bread, and instead of fear I felt an unexpected tenderness. These ancient creatures moved with calm certainty, circling in their own quiet rhythm.
From that memory came the image of a haloed eel guiding a girl into the same fluid motion. The circular composition echoes the eel’s spiral — movement that creates stillness at its center.
