About the artwork
The idea came on Isla Robinson Crusoe in Chile — a remote volcanic island where hummingbirds dart through the air in astonishing numbers. One even landed briefly on the railing near my husband. The moment felt delicate and fleeting, yet strangely grounding. Later I imagined a girl carried across the sky by two haloed hummingbirds — not lifted by force, but guided by quiet presence.
This painting explores the strength hidden in gentleness. The girl isn’t escaping or chasing anything. She simply moves forward, trusting the rhythm of small wings and the quiet power of softness.
