About the artwork
LE CHAT (White Study) is one of two small preparatory works created before the larger painting Le Chat. It captures the very first emotional impulse of the piece — a quiet moment of warmth before color and symbolism fully emerged.
Inspired by my cat Lyosha, the white figure represents pure presence. He is less a character than a feeling: calm, protection, and unconditional closeness. The absence of strong color leaves space for stillness, inviting the viewer to sense the atmosphere rather than interpret it.
