About the artwork
This image was born in Tahiti — as a continuation of my encounter with eels that swam so close to me it felt almost surreal. I fed them pieces of bread and felt a strange tenderness: these ancient, gliding creatures moved with quiet confidence, as if they knew something essential about water that remains inaccessible to humans. There was no anxiety or aggression in their movement — only their own rhythm, calm and precise. It was then that the feeling appeared: the wild does not have to feel foreign — it can be surprisingly close.

This painting is about beauty as a form of inner strength. The girl floats in the water calmly and upright, without trying to control what is happening. Two eels rest on her shoulders as an extension of her own movement — an image of intuition, fluidity, and the body’s ancient knowledge. There is a soft union with what usually seems strange, unpredictable, or wild. As throughout the series, the figure of the girl is intentionally deprived of specific identity — an open image in which the viewer can recognize themselves: a state in which beauty is born not from effort, but from agreement with one’s own depth.

Why collectors respond to this work
This painting belongs to Aleksandra Koblova’s biophilic magical realism series, exploring calm, trust, and the quiet bond between humans and animals. Her works are collected internationally for their rare emotional stillness and restorative atmosphere.

Curatorial сontext
Koblova’s work reflects a growing shift in contemporary art toward a more-than-human perspective, where humans and animals are no longer separated by hierarchy but exist within a shared emotional ecosystem.

Her paintings propose a language of radical tenderness and the generation of joy — where softness, trust, and quiet happiness become meaningful gestures in response to the overstimulation of contemporary life.

Within this context, biophilic imagery functions not simply as depiction of nature, but as a visual space of restoration, emotional balance, and renewed connection with the living world.

Biophilic effect
Nature-based imagery has been shown to support emotional restoration and reduce stress. Artworks featuring animals, water, and open natural spaces help the nervous system shift into a restorative state.
This painting brings that biophilic calm into a living space.
